Friction coefficient of brakes
The most important performance indicator of brake pads is the coefficient of friction. The brake friction coefficient specified by national standards is between 0.35-0.40. Qualified brake pads have a moderate and stable coefficient of friction. If the coefficient of friction is below 0.35, the braking distance may exceed the safe braking distance or even fail. If the coefficient of friction is above 0.40, the brakes may suddenly lock up, leading to a rollover accident.
Precautions for selecting brake pads
1. Look at the friction coefficient, which determines the basic braking torque of the brake pads. If the friction coefficient is too high, it can cause wheel lock up, loss of direction, and burning during the braking process. If it is too low, the braking distance will be too long;
2. To ensure safety, brake pads will generate instantaneous high temperatures during braking, especially during high-speed driving or emergency braking. Under high temperature conditions, the friction coefficient of the friction pads will decrease;
3. Checking for comfort, including braking sensation, noise, dust, smoke, odor, etc., is a direct reflection of friction performance;
4. Judging from the lifespan, usually brake pads can guarantee a service life of 30000 kilometers.
5. We should choose car brake pads produced by legitimate manufacturers, with license numbers, specified friction coefficients, execution standards, etc., and the packaging box should have a certificate of conformity, production batch number, production date, etc;
6. Choose a professional repair point and have it installed by professional personnel.
